Codes of Ethics

I chose these three ideals from the NAEYC's Code of Ethical Conduct and Statement of Commitment.   These three are important for me because I feel that they will help guide early childhood educators in running successful early childhood programs.  In order to provide quality services we need to ensure that we are looking at all aspects of who will interact with that child.  We need to be able to work with each child without any glasses on.  The families are an important piece when working with children that I feel some programs lack.  We also need to ensure that we are sharing resources whether it is partnering with another classroom, a community partner like a child care facility or your local school district.  If you work to have your program obtain these ideals you will run a successful early childhood program.  What is one of your ideals you like?

I-1.3 - To recognize and respect the unique qualities, abilities and the potential of each child.

I - 2.4 - To listen to families, acknowledge and build upon their strengths and competencies, and learn from families as we support them in their task of nurturing children.

I -3A.2 - To share resources with co-workers, collaborating to ensure that the best possible early childhood care and education program is provided.

  1. Hello Malinda,
Yes I agree do agree that those three will help guide early childhood educators to run a successful program. We need to listen to the families and let them help guide the success in the programs as well. The families actually no more about their child so why not let them voice their opinion. We can learn a lot more from families if we give them chances to express themselves.

  2. Family is vital to a child's success. When a child have that family involvement it can help rise their self esteem and help them overall in the classroom. The child will know if they do good someone will be proud of them.

  3. I love your post. As stated above "In order to provide quality services we need to ensure that we are looking at all aspects of who will interact with that child." We have to look at all aspects of who will interact with that child and also we have to look at different things among each child. We have to encourage all children that they can do it and PUSH them so that they are encouraged and motivated that they can do it. Sharing resources with your co workers is a plus as well. You have to help someone in order to get help and being in the education field you will always want to share your ideas to get more/better ideas.

  4. Absolutely agree with your post. It is when we stop listening to families because we think we know more or better that we loose the child. And we are educators of more than the child, we are educators of their parents as well if we are doing our job right. We should definitely be sharing ideas, resources and knowledge that helps everyone around the child have the tools they need to create the best environment.
